FAQs

What does a special education advocate do?

1

An advocate helps parents understand the special education process, prepare for meetings, and communicate clearly with the school. Parents have the right to bring someone with knowledge of their child or of special education to IEP meetings.

Are you an attorney?

2

No. SpEd Advocacy Group provides advocacy and support, not legal advice or representation. If your situation calls for an attorney, I'll let you know and help you find one.

Will having an advocate make the school defensive?

3

Not usually. I focus on clear communication and working with the school team. Most meetings go more smoothly when everyone is prepared.

5

Do you work remotely?

4

How much does it cost?

My meeting is in a few days. Can you still help?

Yes. I work with families by video anywhere in the U.S., and in person in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. I've supported families in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and Texas. I schedule calls across all U.S. time zones.

Packages start at $395. Sliding-scale fees are available for families who qualify. We'll talk about cost on your free call.

Often, yes. Book a call as soon as possible and mention the meeting date.
